Biography

Mr Raymond Cheng is a seasoned IT professional and has established a long career in the finance industry for more than 35 years. He was the Group General Manager and Chief Operating Officer in the Asia Pacific region at HSBC, overseeing Information Technology, Operations, Real Estate, Procurement and Consulting Services functions of the bank. Also he held various IT management positions for the bank in Hong Kong, United States and Canada. Currently, Raymond is holding a Senior Advisor position in QBN Capital Management Ltd. Besides, he has established strong connections with different IT professional bodies and the IT community in Hong Kong. He also acts as a Director and mentor to provide advisory services to a few FinTech startups.

In addition, Raymond is a Non-Executive Director of Hong Kong Interbank Clearing Limited. He is the Chairman of Vocational Training Council Hong Kong Institute of Information Technology Advisory Committee and Chinese University Engineering FinTech Applied Research Academy Advisory Committee. He is a Council Member of the Hong Kong Federation of Youth Group and Hong Kong Quality Assurance Agency Governing Council.

Raymond participates in some key charity programmes from The Hong Kong Jockey Club Charities Trust including JC InnoPower, JC SMART Family-Link and JC Global STEM Post-doctoral Fellowship projects. He is currently the Deputy Chairman of Hong Kong Internet Registration Corporation Ltd. Raymond also sits in some technology funding committees of the government.

Raymond is a Distinguished Fellow of Hong Kong Computer Society and an Honorary Fellow of Vocational Training Council.
